Referendum My Ass.  Just read the numbers

All I’ve heard for the past several weeks is that the results of a few choice elections will be “a referendum on politics in the Age of Obama”.  The age of Obama?  Isn’t that a bit dramatic?

According to the Associated Press:

WASHINGTON – In a very early test of President Barack Obama’s political influence, two states are choosing whether to continue Democratic rule while voters elsewhere elect a handful of congressmen and big-city mayors.

Elected just a year ago, the president has spent a considerable amount of time and energy trying to ensure that Democrats win governor’s races in Virginia and New Jersey and pick up a GOP-held congressional seat in upstate New York.

In doing so, Obama raised the stakes of a low-enthusiasm off-year election season – and risked political embarrassment if any lost.

And all three actually could lose. Which begs the question “Why would the POTUS put himself out there on a limb; betting his political future on the results of off-year elections?”

The answer is something you may have suspected:

ACORN Aims to tip N.J. Election in Corzine’s Favor

Fearing a potentially devastating Democratic loss, the highly controversial Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) group and its affiliated organizations are gearing up to tip the scales and re-elect the beleaguered incumbent in the hard-fought New Jersey gubernatorial race, sources tell Newsmax.

“ACORN is heavily involved in Gov. Jon Corzine’s get-out-the-vote operation, but is maintaining a low profile at the insistence of the Corzine campaign,” Matthew Vadum, senior editor of the conservative Capital Research Center think tank, tells Newsmax. “If Corzine manages to win reelection, he doesn’t want the victory tainted by his close association with ACORN.”

Wall Street Journal columnist and author John Fund wrote Tuesday that “Plenty of reasons exist for suspecting absentee fraud may play a significant role in tomorrow’s Garden State contests.”

ACORN-linked groups from neighboring Pennsylvania and New York “appear to have moved into the state,” Fund wrote.

Fund also reported that the state’s Democratic Party is pressuring county clerks around the Garden State to downplay signature checks on absentee ballots. Without such checking, it is very difficult to detect absentee vote fraud. READ FULL ARTICLE

Well, that takes care of New Jersey. It should be interesting to see what happens there when the votes are counted.  But what about New York?

ACORN Expected to Protest Election Results Tomorrow in Clinton County

Multiple sources on the ground in New York’s 23rd Congressional district confirm that ACORN is expected to be actively protesting the election results in Clinton County, New York tomorrow. This move comes on the heels of a legal win for the Hoffman camp today as it was ruled that all poll watchers would have to be registered voters of NY 23.

Rob Ryan, spokesman for the Hoffman campaign, states that the legal decision is all about ballot security and that the move by ACORN is not a surprise. READ FULL ARTICLE

I guess that tells us what we can expect tomorrow, and this “news” is distributed before the votes are counted?  I don’t have a dog in either fight.  I live in Manhattan, so what happens in New Jersey doesn’t have any direct effect on my life.  I also don’t live Upstate, although I’m a bit disturbed at what appears to be something akin to hijacking or outright piracy by both parties.

“Hey – I thought this was supposed to be up to the voters!!”

Oh, sorry about that. That was before “The Age of Obama”. Now, anything goes, so long as you win in the end.  Right?  Its OK if ACORN, who was recently de-funded (for a month) telegraphs its tactics to overturn election results? (well, ever since the general election in ‘08, it now represents the “Change you have been waiting for”).

It’s all a bunch of bullshit, pre-determined by a handful who have already made their own decisions regarding the quality of our lives.  So let them crow all they want about “The Age of Obama”.  Me? I’m just going to look at the polls (that is, until ACORN announces its next shady plan for our future, in which case I will be sending postcards from some far away land that nobody gives a damn about and where everyone can live peaceably.

I suppose voter fraud is going to become part of the game until the ID issue is resolved. ACORN’s participation is very troublesome to me. I witnessed Project Vote’s work first hand. Simply disgusting.

“On one side are those who claim photo IDs will block some voters from casting ballots, but offer scant evidence. On the other side are those who believe photo ID laws can act as a deterrent to irregularities the public increasingly views as undermining election integrity. Given the obvious political nature of the argument, here’s hoping a clear Supreme Court majority reprises its 2006 finding and holds that such questions are best resolved by the elected branches of government and not by unaccountable courts. ”

I’m not against id, but it seems a dubious protection: it’s not like fake ids aren’t obtained easily.

Perhaps it would curtail the amount of fraud? Really, why should the dead guy get to vote 23 times?

I doubt voter fraud was the cause of Deeds and Corzine going down in flames today…..Does Beelzubama have a speech ready to explain how this happened? (Doing the happy dance while flipping the bird in the general direction of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.)

I think it was more about letting DC know that we’re not going to be strongarmed any more.

Of course, the WH will downplay this.

My oh my…looks like a long night for Bloomberg.

Wow: This is looking to be a very long night for the billionaire-incumbent-front-runner in New York.

With more than a third of the votes in, it’s a 1-point race. NBC called it for Bloomberg — but just reversed that call. The New York Times continues to indicate that Bloomberg has won.

and a longer 4 more for the rest of us. I hate him. Most telling is the slim margin that his $11 Million brought him. What an Asshole….

Apparently, the voters showing up at the polls today are the usual voting blocs. Those that made their brief appearance in 2008 stayed home. Hence the results (to some degree of ocurse).

Yeah, where have all the Obots gone? (Uh-oh – I hear Peter Paul and Mary in the background…)

Song has a much more significant history: it was written by Pete Seeger who was brought before the House Unamerican Activities Committee for being against all war and performing for all audiences.

“I am sorry you are not interested in the song. It is a good song.” LOL
& Marlene Dietrich performed it in both France and Germany prior to WWII (she was also a front line performer during WWII).

How many of those missing obots were never real to begin with? I mean, since ACORN had other things on their minds this election season, how many people were unable to raise from the dead and vote?

      • 2009 November 5

Very good point. This can be an accurate representation of the real results of the Chicago-driven lie that we called a “general election”.

        Good call.

Yes, but Britain’s Blair is stepping up and refusing to send more troops until Afghanistan takes strides toward getting their government/citizenry off the pot and doing something positive and constructive toward helping themselves. Imagine a leader who actually cares about his troops!!

Of course, now the obamarrhoids will unite to paint a pretty picture of obama about how wise he is not to rush into anything…..blech :(
